BEN BERENFIELD

Ben Berenfield is a seasoned professional with a decade of experience in the art of dog training. His journey into the world of canine behavior began in 2013 and has since been marked by a relentless pursuit of knowledge and a commitment to nurturing the unique bond between dogs and their owners.
Ben’s approach to dog training is deeply rooted in a belief in balance. Drawing from his extensive experience, he understands that the most effective training strategies involve a rewards-based approach tailored to the individual dog. This philosophy has not only proven successful in addressing a wide range of behavioral issues but has also empowered countless dogs and their owners to build harmonious and lasting relationships.
In 2018, Ben took his passion and expertise to the next level by founding Haven Dog Training, a company designed to transform the lives of dogs and their owners through education, understanding, and the belief that all dogs can be trained. Under his leadership, Haven Dog Training has quickly become a trusted resource for pet owners seeking a well-rounded, compassionate, and effective approach to dog training.
ZOE BERENFIELD
OFFICE MANAGER
Zoe Berenfield, a dedicated animal enthusiast, brings a wealth of experience to Haven Dog Training. With over a decade of experience teaching horse riding lessons to children at Blue Skies of Mapleview, she has a unique background in understanding the bond between humans and animals. Graduating from NC State with a degree in Animal Science, Zoe’s knowledge of animal behavior and physiology is second to none.
At Haven Dog Training, Zoe plays a pivotal role in caring for and training dogs. Her deep love for animals extends to every aspect of her work. She enjoys boarding dogs, ensuring they receive a comfortable and loving environment when their owners are away. Zoe’s training methods are rooted in kindness and patience, allowing every dog in her care to thrive and reach their full potential.One of Zoe’s favorite aspects of her work is overseeing our Pack Program. She believes in the importance of socialization and group dynamics for dogs. Zoe helps to create a nurturing and fun environment, ensuring safety while allowing dogs to develop strong bonds and enjoy their time at Haven Dog Training.
Zoe recently married, and she and her husband Ben share a profound love for animals. Working together at Haven Dog Training, they form a dynamic and caring team dedicated to providing the best possible care and training for your beloved pets. Zoe’s personal and professional commitment to the well-being of animals shines through in everything she does, and she’s ready to share her expertise with you and your cherished pets at Haven Dog Training.
CAITLIN GRILLI
TRAINER
What do horses and dogs have in common? Well, several things but for us, it’s our trainer Caitlin! While she grew up in Long Island, Caitlin has spent time around the country working as an assistant manager at a horse stable, veterinary clinics, and grooming services. This has equipped Caitlin with a unique set of skills, each learned through hands-on experience.
Caitlin has worked in different services, but her constant has been her unending love for animals. After working directly with dogs of various breeds and temperaments, Caitlin answered her calling to attend the Tarheel Canine School for Dog Trainers. Since graduating, she has devoted her time to helping families and their dogs live a fulfilled life together. In her spare time, Caitlin enjoys hiking and training with her dog for protection sports.
ASHLYN CARROLL
TRAINER
At home and outside, Ashlyn grew up with dogs. She was fortunate to see both their loving, cuddly side at home and their protective, working side on the family farm. In a quest to further her understanding of animals, Ashlyn studied animal psychology in graduate school. There she found a passion for canine training and behavior.
Since then, Ashlyn has applied her knowledge in teaching pet dogs and their humans how to live harmoniously through training and play. She has extensive hands-on experience with basic & advanced obedience, sport & competition training, reactivity & aggression, personal protection work, and more.
Ashlyn considers herself a ‘forever student’ and continuously improves her craft and learns from fellow dog trainers and industry experts. She currently trains and competes with her dogs in PSA, an obedience and protection dog sport.
